My temp 39C again!
Coming down with something tonight, aching bones and feeling hot cold. My Temp 39c. It seems to always happen after a big ride, maybe my immune system can't take it ? Or a left over from Lochlans cough?

My first real mountain climb
Carl bicycled 40km and gained 500m
going up the 1:20 from The Basin to Sassafras this morning with brother Lee.
The climb took me 37 mins, just a bit longer than my 20 and a half min, from four years ago!
I guess three separate Chemo treatments has takin it's toll on my fitness.
Used up 1200 Kilo-calories going up today.
Glad to be on the mountain once more.
My reward,
pouched eggs on toast with spinach, and tomato. Two lattes, and small cake for the return ride.
Bye from Carl.
Bye from Carl.

I made it after a 3 years Hiatus. |

Secret The Basin 1:20 Alpine Challenge Training for 2011, Dec 5th 2010
This is the first time since my Stem cell Transplant a year ago that I attempted to ride the 1 in 20 hill-climb from The Basin in Victoria to the top in the Dandenong Ranges. I use to use it for training for the Alpine classic which is held on the Australia Day weekend in Bright VIC.Its 200km with 5000m of elevation gain. The last one i did was in 2007, before I was diagnosed with Mantle cell Lymphoma.
Below: and thought I was doing it tough? This guys pedalling with his hands.

A ride with the Bianchi Boys
Some people may laugh at our lycra suits we wear when we ride,
but that particular one we are wearing has a warm spot for me.
When I was living in Czech Republic for 3 years, I managed to get to the 1998 Tour de France by train and touring bicycle,
I camped and cycled toured for 8 weeks.
That year Marco Pantanni won the 3000 plus Km tour. I could have bought a jersey when I was there, but didn't. It wasn't until, the great champ was found dead years later that I had the desire to own one.
Luckily a jersey manufacture in the UK got the rights to remake them, and thats how I have one now and matching nicks (padded shorts)

My Worlds in Geelong.
I'm sitting back at my sisters inlaws house, after a day at the World road race bicycle championships, which where held at Geelong town.
I have to pinch myself, did I really just see the Elite of the Elite ride only meters away from our vantage point. Cadel Evens, Stuart Ogrady, Fabian Cancellara, Mick Rodgers, Cavindish, just to name a few.
We got a great spot to watch the riders climb the steepest part of the 16km road race circuit, which they did 11 times, plus a 85 km ride from Melbourne from where they started at 10 am this morning.
See video here, BTW looks better if watched on youtube.
