Grommet in! and memorial ride.

On Friday the 17th July, I had to face the fact that I needed a grommet put in my eardrum if I want to ear properly and get over this "glue ear"

I was awake when the ENT doctor pushed the plastic tube through a little hole he had made in my ear drum.

I'll tell ya, it hurt like hell €€>>%%}k

It will take up to 4 weeks for the middle ear to drain, hopefully all will be good, and I don't get a infection in the ear from it because of my low average immune system.

Tues 21st:

Grommet good, tummy not.

It seems one the antibotics has caused me to have stomach cramps, diarrhea and bone aches . I have stopped taking that antibiotics, and just use the ear drops now.   These last two days have not been good. Doc said eat simple foods like paster toast rice. Etc.

Hope I will be good for Sunday, as I want to ride or photograph Richard Kings memorial bike ride this Sunday, mates from 30 years ago will be getting together to ride 80km over the mountains in memory of our friend who lost his battle with Bladder cancer last month :-(

Rik was only 45.

Transfusion

Just having my seventh, of 8 Mabthera transfusiosns today. I have them every 3 months. It helps my own immune system locate and fight lymphoma cells.

I think I got a stomach bug from my son, I have been feeling bloated and lost my appetite. I hope it's not my Lymphoma returned?

Get ready for a sharp sting!

Get ready for a sharp sting!
The Mr (ear doc) said it would only sting for a couple of seconds. Blimmen heck it did hurt. But didn't do anything, it's still got fluid in it! Plus I still can't equal the pressure in the left ear by blowing and holding my nose.

He tells me your chest infection ear infection are all interrelated, then he says if it doesn't clear we may have to put a grommet on your ear drum to let the fluid escape, but then he worries if I get a ear infection it will be hard to control with your subdued immune system... Hmmm great. I just hope the different antibiotics work.

He also said since I was a good patient and didn't seem to worry about the needle in the eardrum, we could put the grommets in at his clinic and not be knocked out ....... Yeah right!

By the way this note comes automatically from my blog, so if you want to read the background go there. http://carlhemmings.blogspot.com/

Cheers Carl.

Ear drum

Today I had my ear drum attacked with a needle and syringe. The ear doctor sucked fluid from my middle ear, with no local! It hurt like hell!

I hope I don't need grommet, I'm on more antibotics, to see if middle ear will clear?

Grommets

I can't believe I still have a bronchitis cough, which started on the 5th of Jan.
I now can't hear well in the left ear because it's full of fluid in the middle ear. I'm going to the specialist on Monday to see if I need grommets fitted to drain them.
Cheers Carl

My temp 39C again!

Coming down with something tonight, aching bones and feeling hot cold. My Temp 39c. It seems to always happen after a big ride, maybe my immune system can't take it ? Or a left over from Lochlans cough?

Been bed bound now for 38hrs!

My first real mountain climb

Carl bicycled 40km and gained 500m
going up the 1:20 from The Basin to Sassafras this morning with brother Lee.
The climb took me 37 mins, just a bit longer than my 20 and a half min, from four years ago!
I guess three separate Chemo treatments has takin it's toll on my fitness.
Used up 1200 Kilo-calories going up today.
Glad to be on the mountain once more.
My reward,
pouched eggs on toast with spinach, and tomato. Two lattes, and small cake for the return ride.
Bye from Carl.

Lee my brother on the Dandenong bike path to the Basin.

I made it after a 3 years Hiatus.
